Toasted Chia Seeds

This is a way of making toasted chia seeds in a pan on the stove. There is also a variation in the notes if you prefer to bake them in the oven.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup chia seeds
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat a dry pan over medium heat.
  • Add the chia seeds and stir occasionally until they are lightly browned and fragrant, usually 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and transfer the toasted chia seeds to a bowl.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the toasted chia seeds and stir to combine.
  • Allow the toasted chia seeds to cool completely before using.

Notes

You can also toast chia seeds in the oven by spreading them out on a baking sheet and baking them at 350°F for 5-7 minutes, or until they are lightly browned.
Toasted chia seeds can be used in a variety of ways, including:
  • Sprinkling on top of oatmeal or yogurt for added crunch and texture
  • Adding to baked goods like muffins, bread, and granola
  • Mixing into smoothies for added protein and fiber
  • Topping salads for a nutritious boost
