How to Grind Chia Seeds

An easy method to quickly grind chia seeds on your own.

Equipment

  • coffee grinder or food processor

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup of chia seeds

Instructions
 

  • Measure out 1 cup of chia seeds and place them in a coffee grinder or food processor.
  • If using a coffee grinder, pulse the seeds for about 30 seconds, or until they reach a fine consistency. If using a food processor, pulse the seeds in short bursts, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed, until they reach a fine consistency.
  • Transfer the ground chia seeds to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Use the chia seed meal in your recipes such as smoothies, baking, or as a topping for cereal or yogurt.

Notes

Note: If you don't have a coffee grinder or food processor, you can also use a plastic bag and a rolling pin to grind the chia seeds. Simply add the chia seeds to the plastic bag and seal it tightly. Use the rolling pin to crush the seeds until they're ground to your desired consistency.
