Dates with Milk

This recipe makes about 2 servings of dates with milk. It's a great way to enjoy the natural sweetness of dates and the creamy texture of milk.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 2 cups milk you can use any kind of milk you prefer including plant-based milks such as almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
  • Honey or maple syrup to taste (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, add the pitted dates and milk.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the dates have softened and the milk has thickened.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
  • If desired, add vanilla extract and ground cinnamon and blend again.
  • Taste the mixture and add honey or maple syrup to adjust the sweetness as desired.
  • Pour the mixture into a glass or jar and serve warm or chilled.

Notes

This recipe makes about 2 servings of dates with milk. You can adjust the thickness of the mixture by adding more or less milk to the saucepan.
